White label SEO fulfillment: who does the work after the sale

White label SEO fulfillment is the SEO work that gets done after you've made the sale, by a partner whose name stays off it. You sell the work and keep the client, and the partner does the tasks. The part to watch is the path each task takes: who gets it, who checks it, and when you see it.

What's SEO fulfillment?

SEO fulfillment is the work that comes after the sale: the tasks a client has paid for, done and handed back. Two sellers' pages use the word fulfillment for the work a partner does behind another business's name.

Red Canyon Media, which sells it, puts it this way: the fulfillment agency does the work, and you get the credit. Boostability, another seller, says its fulfillment team handles the technical work so the agency can stay focused on the client. It says its work stays behind the scenes, and that the agency's clients only ever see the agency.

Those are sellers' own lines about what they sell. They show how the word gets used, and that's all we take from them.

In both sellers' wording there are two sides: the business that holds the client, and the partner that does the work. So before you pick a partner, write down which side each job sits on:

  • Who makes the sale?
  • Who sets the SEO plan?
  • Who does each task?
  • Who checks the work?
  • Who talks to the client?

What does an SEO fulfillment agency do after the sale?

After the sale, it takes each task you send, does the work, checks it, and hands it back for you to look over. That's how it goes with our team at DeskTeam360, which is the example here.

First, the work itself. Our team does SEO work for agencies, and the agency's brand goes on that work. You bring the words. On-page SEO is covered. Link building and outreach aren't.

Here's the path one task takes once your client has signed:

  1. You set the plan. You've made the sale, so you decide what the SEO work will be.
  2. You send a task. It goes in through the request form or in an email. A written note, a short video or a document will each do.
  3. Your North American account manager reads it. That same person gives it to the right specialist.
  4. The work gets done and checked. The check happens before you see anything, and the same manager does it.
  5. You look it over. If it isn't right, you ask for changes. You get unlimited revisions on every plan.
  6. You pass it to your client. White label is on all plans, so the work goes out under your brand.

You see every piece of work before your client does. That's the point of steps four and five.

Behind each task is the same set of people on every plan: a North American account manager and a team leader, with 2 developers, 2 technical Virtual Assistants and 2 designers. Our founder joins 2 weekly group calls.

Everyone on the team works from the same office. It's fitted with two backup power sources, three internet providers and new computers, and a team leader works there alongside the team.

The path above is one task with one team. A whole program has more parts to it. How a program runs month to month is covered in white label SEO programs.

If on-page work is what you plan to send, read up on it first. See white label on-page SEO for the on-page work you can hand off.

Step two begins with a written task. We've got a free template for handing off tasks. You give us your email to get it.

How do you outsource SEO fulfillment and still keep track of the work?

Keep every task in one list you can see, and look at each piece of work before your client does. With our team, that list can live in your project system or in ours. Our name doesn't show on the work, in the emails or in the project system.

Wherever the list lives, keep it the same way:

  1. Give every task a line: the client, the task, the date you sent it, and where it stands.
  2. Use a short set of states, such as sent, in work, back with me, with the client, and done.
  3. Before you send a task, write down what done looks like.
  4. When the work comes back, check it against that note.
  5. Go through the whole list on the same day each week, and chase anything that hasn't moved.

Which tasks go on the list is a question of its own. For what to hand off first and what to keep, see white label SEO outsourcing.

The task list is for you. What your client sees is the monthly report. See Why is white label SEO reporting important? for the four ways to get reports out each month.

Here's how one agency founder describes working with our team. Michael Quinn is the founder of My Site Ranked, a company that teaches marketers about SEO. Quinn is an SEO expert with seven years of running a digital marketing agency. The Duct Tape Marketing Network recommended DeskTeam360 to Quinn.

What stood out to Quinn was the onboarding information and the people. Having two points of contact made communication clearer and easier, with less back and forth. Quinn had been frustrated by miscommunication and by long discussions that went nowhere, and both eased.
